UFC 148 – The good, The Bad and the Ugly

Been a while since I did a post-event run down but after Saturdays event, I feel it’s time to bring this bad boy back. It was one of the most anticipated rematches in UFC history, but it left a bad taste in some peoples mouths and was not without it’s contentious moments. It was also a card that was mostly disappointing. The co-main event showcased just how much Tito has declined, I still feel he won the fight, but he looked slow and gassed hard at the end. Forrest was back to his bizarro-best (worst?) and ruined Tito’s last ever moments in the Octagon, a moment that win or lose he deserved to have.

UFC 140: Jones vs Machida – Preview and Predictions

Another BIG UFC event rolls around this Saturday and the penultimate show of a very busy 2011 is sure to be a hit. UFC Light Heavyweight Champion Jon Jones defends his belt against former champion Lyoto Machida. Machida comes in off the back of THAT knockout of Randy Couture and will look to try and test the resolve (and chin) of the champion. Jones is still riding a tidal wave of momentum that has seen him pretty much destroy everyone who has stood in front of him. Just another day at the office for Jones? After a couple of weeks absent from our TV screens, the UFC returns with a vengeance in August with 3 events, starting with this UFC 133. This is another one of “those” cards from the UFC. L’il Nog: Injured as a result Jim Carey Rich Franklin is withdrawn due to lack of suitable replacement opponent. Jose Aldo: Injured and not on card as rumoured, Matyushenko: injured, Riki Fukuda: injured, Alessio Sakara: injured and the list goes on…

UFC 132: Cruz vs Faber 2 – Preview and Predictions

Another weekend, another MMA event. They have been coming thick and fast lately and the deluge of high profile events isn’t stopping, which is a great thing for any MMA fan. This saturday we are back in Las Vegas for UFC 132 and another title is on the line – this time in the Bantamweight grudge match between one time featherweight king Urijah Faber and the defending champ Dominick Cruz. These two have beef as Cruz took an immediate dislike to Faber and when they were due to meet at Featherweight (a fight that Faber won, handing Cruz his ONLY career defeat) Cruz went round defacing fight posters and voicing his contempt of the champ. Now the roles are reversed and it is Faber who is hunting the gold and Cruz who sits on top of the 135lbs rankings.
